Atlanta and Dallas. That's pretty tough. Especially when you jump up on Dallas by 2 early.

I've been high on Pavelec for quite some time - I think the Thrashers have been absolutely blind by not paving the way for him, instead opting to stick with the oft-injured Lehtonen and 1B Hedberg. That being said, the Thrashers won't get any decent returns for Pavelec, and they are well aware of how good he can be, if they don't play him. It's very much like the Schneider situation at last year's deadline when he had virtually no value as trade fodder because of his lack of playing time.

There have been reports that Pavelec (who is a bona fide NHL goaltender and is ripping apart the AHL) is unhappy that management is not playing him. His agent has come under fire and even with sub-par 'tending in the ATL - the situation smells. A team that were to offer the Thrashers a decent package could really have a beauty on their hands in net. check out:

Clarkson is a good example of Foligno's equal at this point, though Foligno is younger. Neither compares to the best economical power-forward in the game right now, clicking on the best complimentary line - Ryan Clowe.

Edler is fast becoming a more offensively gifted version of Ohlund and Hodgson has no doubt been one of the stars on a very good Canadian squad. We'll see what kind of role he plays when USA faces Canada in a marquee game.

Foligno is also growing on me - I'm a big fan of big, bruising players who like to score the dirty goals (David Clarkson is another) and he's been one of the lone bright spots this year in Ottawa. Him and Filip Kuba.

Nice commentary at the end of this piece Jason. Sanford looked strong and I love how you are looking at Philadelphia as have fruit to pick.
Shane O'Brien is growing on me for sure. He was efficient in moving the puck and stood up for his team-mates without taking a crappy penalty. Dany Heatley let his frustration get the better of him and spent the third in the box basically. The Sens have little chemistry aside from Alfredsson, Fisher, and Foligno. I was at GM Place and saw the action.

Lee was good in the game. Made a rookie mistake that led to a goal, but his wristshot on Sanford in the third was incredible and top corner. I really like what Lee can bring to the club and Ottawa needs a rebuild for sure. Sanford is certainly in the zone to be making that save.

For my money either Pyatt is traded for a mid-round pick - OR Brown is risked through waivers.

Sundin is only signing a one year contract so we will not need to worry about his salary next year. There will still be problems getting everyone under the cap next year but Sundin will not be part of that problem.
